Cyclone Fengal: EMU train services restored in all sections

CHENNAI: Train services that were halted and diverted due to the cyclone-induced heavy rains were restored by Sunday morning.

“The engineering department of Southern Railway cleared the excess water from the tracks and stations. Technical and non-technical teams also addressed issues like fallen shelters in the stations due to strong wind, which helped in restoring the services quickly,” said an official attached to the Chennai division of SR.

The suburban train services in the MRTS route between Beach and Velachery were suspended on Saturday noon. In the Beach-Tambaram section, trains were terminated at Pallavaram and from Chengalpattu to Vandalur due to the rains. These were later restored.
