Customs seize gold worth Rs 21.3 lakhs in Chennai airport today

CHENNAI: Customs officials seized gold worth Rs 21.3 lakhs in the Chennai airport on Saturday.

The customs officials who were checking the passengers who arrived from Dubai intercepted Sheik Mohammed Ravuthar.

On personal search, the officials recovered foreign cigarettes and gold of 260 grams worth Rs 11.47 lakhs.

In another incident, the customs intercepted Jivith Ali of Chennai who arrived from Dubai and in search of the person, the customs found gold in dust form concealed in his pant along with a gold chain and coin worth Rs 9.84 lakhs. The same was seized and both the passengers were arrested for further inquiry.
