Customs seize foreign currencies worth Rs 47.28L in Chennai

The customs officials were checking the passengers, who were about to board a flight to Muscat via Dubai, and intercepted four passengers of Ramanathapuram on suspicion of carrying foreign currencies.

CHENNAI: Customs officials seized foreign currencies worth Rs 47.28 lakh at the Chennai airport on Monday.

The customs officials were checking the passengers, who were about to board a flight to Muscat via Dubai, and intercepted four passengers of Ramanathapuram on suspicion of carrying foreign currencies.

On search, the officials found the accused had foreign currencies of various denominations that amounted to Rs 47.28 lakh.

The currency was seized under the Customs Act, 1962 and the four passengers were arrested for further inquiry.
