Customs seize ball Pythons from Dindigul man at Chennai airport

"Vivek, of Dindigul from Bangkok was intercepted by the Custom Officials. On examination of check in luggage, five ball pythons ((Python regius) wildlife species were found and seized under the Customs Act, 1962 and Wildlife Protection act 1972," Chennai customs official said.

CHENNAI: Based on intelligence, the Chennai Customs intercepted one male passenger and rescued exotic pythons on Monday.

"Vivek, of Dindigul from Bangkok was intercepted by the Custom Officials. On examination of check in luggage, five ball pythons ((Python regius) wildlife species were found and seized under the Customs Act, 1962 and Wildlife Protection act 1972," Chennai customs official said.

The wildlife species were deported back to Thailand under the deportation order issued by Animal Quarantine, Chennai. The passenger was arrested and further investigations are under way.
