Country bomb explodes in East Tambaram, no casualties reported

Following the explosion, the residents quickly alerted Selaiyur police they promptly arrived at the scene to investigate.

CHENNAI: In the early morning, the residents of Ananthapuram Anna Salai and Arumugam Salai heard a blast and smoke was emitting from the junction.

Soon the locals alerted the Selaiyur police station and the police team rushed to the spot and found a country bomb was hurled in the junction and discovered a few burnt ropes, and cycle balls scattered on the road.

During the inquiry, the locals told the police that a young man aged around 25 years recently moved to Ananthapuram and he was the one at the spotted during the incident.

The police then visited his house and found it was locked and the man missing. The police have registered a case and are trying to identify the suspected miscreant with the help of CCTV.
