The boy, V Shreyan of Mylapore, an LKG student of a private school, went for his drawing school at a private institute in the locality. When the session for the first batch ended, Shreyan came out and played for some time. Then, he started walking on the road as his father Venkatesan did not arrived to pick him up.

Venkatesan, a Central government employee, reached the institute a little late, only to find that his son was missing. He allegedly quarrelled with the institute in-charge and immediately alerted the Mylapore police that his son was missing. He also informed the Joint Commissioner MV Jayagowri.

The official immediately pressed the Mylapore police into action and CCTV footage from the locality were monitored. The police found out that Shreyan was going in the direction of his home, but on a different street.

Meanwhile, a passer-by found the boy walking on the road without a guardian and enquired him. As he was talking to Shreyan, the police reached the spot and rescued him. The passer-by reportedly told police that he was planning to take him to the police station.

After an inquiry, Shreyan was handed over to his parents. As they rescued the child soon after the complaint, an FIR was not registered, said inspector Senthil Murugan.
