Cops seize over 1,000 prescription drugs, arrest 4 near Semmencherry

CHENNAI: Police seized more than 1,000 prescription drugs and arrested four youth near Semmencherry on Friday. Tambaram police received a piece of information that prescription drugs are being supplied in the locality. Following that, the Pallikaranai Prohibition and Excise wing Police formed a special team and were monitoring the area. On Friday the police who were on vehicle check-in OMR near Semmencherry on suspicion checked Hariharan (22) of Sholinganallur, Vinoth (25) of Kundrathur, Sanjay (20) of Old Perungalathur and Aravind (25) of Saidapet and found all of them carrying prescription drugs with them. Police seized 1,100 tablets and 30 syringes along with their mobile phones and they were handed to Semmencherry police station. The police registered a case and they were remanded in judicial custody and sent to prison. It is noted that a total of 196 people were arrested in drug cases in the Tambaram police limit this year.
