Cop’s murder: Kin stage road roko in Cheyyur

On Wednesday, the relatives of Kamesh protested on the Pavunchur-Cheyyur Road and demanded the arrest of elusive Madan.

CHENNAI: The relatives of a constable murdered in Cheyyur on Tuesday held a road roko on Pavunjur-Cheyyur Road on Wednesday demanding immediate arrest of the murderers. Kamesh Kumar of Cheyyur, who was working as a grade one police constable in the Neelankarai police station, was murdered after being rammed by a car by his sister’s husband over a family dispute.

After the incident, the police arrested five men linked to the murder but the main accused Madan, brother-in-law of Kamesh, remained at large. On Wednesday, the relatives of Kamesh protested on the Pavunchur-Cheyyur Road and demanded the arrest of elusive Madan. The Cheyyur police visited the spot and held peace talks with the protestors and promised Madan’s arrest within a day. Later, the relatives gave up the protest and dispersed.
