Cops arrest drunk driver for causing accident & injuring 4 in Tambaram

Five people were injured after a taxi rammed into a bike and auto-rickshaw in Tambaram on Tuesday. Police said Danasekar (31) of Naduveerapattu, a cab driver was heading towards Tambaram in his car on Tuesday.

Danasekar had consumed liquor and was not stable at the time of driving. Around 9 pm when over-speeding on Gandhi Road in Tambaram, Danasekar lost control of the car and hit 2 people – a woman riding on her scooter and an auto rickshaw. Later, the vehicle stopped after hitting a tea shop. Police said Danasekar tried to run from the spot after the incident, but onlookers caught and trashed him for the accident. The Tambaram police who arrived at the spot rescued Danaksekar from the public and admitted him to the hospital. Police said 5 people including Danasekar were injured in the accident. The Chromepet traffic investigation police have registered a case and further inquiry is on.
