Cop assigned for security at Armstrong's house dies by suicide

Investigations revealed that Vijay stayed with his colleagues in a rented house on New Street, Ayanavaram. Police said that he was assigned security duty at the residence of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) state president, K Armstrong.

CHENNAI: An Armed Reserve (AR) police constable attached to the Chennai city police was found dead in his residence in Ayanavaram on Monday. Police said that he died by suicide. The deceased policeman was identified as Vijay (27), a native of Harur in Dharmapuri district.

Investigations revealed that Vijay stayed with his colleagues in a rented house on New Street, Ayanavaram. Police said that he was assigned security duty at the residence of former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) state president, K Armstrong.

Investigations revealed that his family had arranged for his marriage, and his wedding was to take place in June. On Monday morning, his roommates found him dead and alerted the police.

The Ayanavaram Police rushed to the scene, conducted a preliminary enquiry, and sent the body to the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for autopsy examination.

A case has been registered, and police are questioning his family members and colleagues to ascertain the reasons for his suicide.
