CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu police on Thursday informed the Madras High Court that it would conduct a comprehensive investigation in an alleged job scam case booked against Tamil Nadu EB minister V Senthil Balaji.

The cases were booked on charges of getting a huge sum of money as bribes from several people with a promise to offer jobs in the transport department from 2011 to 2015.

The police made this submission before Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan. The judge was hearing a petition filed by Senthil Balaji to quash three cases filed by the central crime branch which are pending against him before the special court trying cases against MPs and MLAs.

When the matter was taken up for hearing, the police informed the judge that the Supreme Court had ordered the police to conduct a probe on the complaint filed by several people. Therefore, the police will conduct a detailed probe into the case, according to the police.

Recording the submissions, the judge adjourned the matter on September 29.

As several people lodged a complaint with the Chennai Police Commissioner stating that when Senthil Balaji held the portfolio of the transport department, they gave money for getting driver and conductor jobs in the government.

However, the job was not allotted to them, following which the CCB booked cases against the minister and others.
