CHENNAI: Oil marketing companies have increased the price of the 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 50 in Chennai, pushing the retail price to Rs 1,899.50 from today (Feb 1). However, the price of the 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder remains unchanged at Rs 868.50.
Fuel companies revise the prices of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas cylinders on the first day of every month, taking into account fluctuations in global crude oil prices and the Indian rupee’s value against the US dollar.
The continued rise in commercial LPG prices has caused concern among traders and small business owners. Over the past two months alone, the price of commercial cylinders has gone up by Rs 160, adding to operational costs for hotels, restaurants, and other food-related businesses. Meanwhile, domestic consumers have received temporary relief as household cylinder rates have not been altered in the latest revision.
