CHENNAI: Mystery shrouds the death of a 20-year-old girl, who was found unconscious on the staircase in her college in Vepery on Friday morning. The deceased has been identified as Roshini Sharma, who was pursuing her final year B.Com.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the college reopened after a 10-day holiday. The classes began at 8 am and the girl had come to college around 8.30 am. She had told her friends she was on her way to class, but did not make it to the class. Her classes are on the fourth floor and she was found lying unconscious in the staircase by a staff, a police officer said.

College staff who noticed the girl alerted the authorities and she was moved to a hospital where she was declared brought dead.

Vepery police secured the body and moved it to a government hospital for autopsy. Police suspect she to have slipped down the stairs

Her parents Sunil Sharma and Sheena Sharma run a pharmacy in Elephant Gate. Police said there were injuries on the girl’s face and some teeth were broken.
