The incident happened two weeks ago when the girl was alone at their home in Medavakkam. Her 42-yearold father, who works at a private firm, came home drunk and sexually abused her before absconding. After she narrated the incident to her mother, a complaint was filed at the Madipakkam all-women police station.
The police who registered a case and arrested Karthick under Pocso Act on October 7.
The girl was dejected after the incident, and was worried how the neighbours, relatives and friends would react about the matter. On Friday night, she reportedly went to the bedroom and hanged herself using her mother’s saree.
Her brother and mother who saw her hanging rushed the girl to a private hospital nearby, but the doctors declared her brought dead. The Pallikaranai police sent the body to Chromepet government hospital for autopsy and have registered a case.
The relatives and neighbours claimed that proper counselling could have saved the girl’s life.
