CHENNAI: Chief Minister M K Stalin on Saturday expressed concern over the killing of college student Sathya by a spurned youngster and said that men should use their natural strength to protect women.
Sathya's death devastated me
Addressing students during a job mela at New College in the city, Stalin said, “I was devastated by the tragedy that happened to a girl student named Sathya in Chennai a couple of days ago. Not only I, everyone who read it must have been crestfallen. Such incidents should never happen in Tamil Nadu again. This is not the society we desired. We have the duty to ensure that it does not happen to any women hereafter.”
Advising the parents to raise their children, be them male or female, as not only intelligent and uniquely skilled, but also socially concerned, the CM said that social education was also as essential as textbook education. “We should teach them to respect and protect other lives as much as theirs. They should contribute to society by growing up and living as disciplined and cultured people. Parents have the great responsibility of raising them without them digressing.”
He also added; “Man might be naturally strong. That strength should not restrict others. It should protect women. The incident shows how some men are growing up. I am duty bound to appeal to schools, colleges and parents to raise them to protect the force of youths.”
Remarking that the DMK regime did not ignore the unemployment issue by citing Covid, the CM said that the state government has created one lakh jobs in the last one year, which is a great achievement.
