Chennai: Sewage pumping in 3 zones to be suspended for 36 hours

During the maintenance period, residents are advised to contact the area engineers in the respective zones for any sewage-related complaints.

CHENNAI: Residents in parts of north and central Chennai should prepare for a temporary disruption of sewage services across three zones, as the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) has announced that sewage pumping stations in the Madhavaram, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, and Anna Nagar zones will be suspended for 36 hours starting on Friday (February 6).

According to a press release from Metro Water, the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) will be carrying out interconnection works for a main sewer pumping pipeline near Moolakadai Junction. Consequently, operations at these stations will be halted from 2 pm on February 6 until 2 am on February 8 (36 hours).

The affected zones and pumping stations in Madhavaram are: Kadappa Road Relay, Madhanakuppam, Rajiv Gandhi Nagar, Thangalkarai, Puthagaram, and Padmavathi Nagar. In the Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar zone, Villivakkam Sector A and Venus Nagar will be affected.

In Anna Nagar zone, Villivakkam Lagoon Relay, Villivakkam Phase 1 and 2, Agasthiyar Nagar, North Jagannathan Nagar, and Villivakkam Sector B will be affected because of this, added the release.
