CHENNAI: The service disruptions will continue at Egmore railway station with a six-hour line and power block being enforced between 11 pm and 5 am till April 7, affecting late-night and early-morning suburban services.
These changes mean that several services will be short-terminated at Tambaram, requiring passengers to plan travel accordingly during the block period.
On April 5, several late-night Beach-Tambaram EMUs at 11 pm, 11.20 pm, 11.40 pm and 11.59 pm will be cancelled. Corresponding return services from Tambaram, those scheduled at 10.20 pm, 11 pm and 11.40 pm are also cancelled. In addition, an early morning Beach-Tambaram service departing at 4.15 am is cancelled.
Partial cancellations are also enforced on the same day with an early morning 3.55 am train running between Beach and Chengalpattu will terminate at Similarly, late-night services from Tirumalpur and Chengalpattu towards Beach, departing between 8 pm and 11 pm, will be operated only up to Tambaram.
Similar disruptions are also reported on other days within the block period. “Roofing is being installed and access works to the platform are being done. These cancellations will help expedite the works,” said an official.
On April 4, 6 and 7, late-night Beach-Tambaram services at 11.05 pm, 11.30 pm and 11.59 pm are cancelled. On April 4, 6, 7 and 8, early morning Beach–Chengalpattu services departing at 3.50 am and 4.15 am will terminate at Tambaram.
Additionally, select services are rescheduled. Beach-Chengalpattu services at 4.35 am and 5.30 am are delayed by about 10 minutes while corresponding Tambaram-Beach services departing at 3.55 am are also rescheduled.
