CHENNAI: When the Indian Railways is urging passengers to shift to RailOne app for all its services, passengers are not happy with the services. This is concerning as the Railways is planning to ease out other apps and slowly bring everything on RailOne.

RailOne aims to integrate all services such as unreserved UTS tickets, live train tracking, grievance redressal e-catering, porter booking & last-mile taxi.

Jeevan, a Chennai resident tried to book the tickets on Train 12680 MAS - Coimbatore Intercity for his wife and child three-year-old from Morappur to Chennai using Railone.

“First, when I tried to book on RailOne, the ticket was wait-listed as WL 1. But when I tried on the IRCTC website, there were 325 seats available,” he explained. “Also when I checked the PNR, seats for the mother and child, as per RailOne app, were allocated in different coaches. Despite the cancellation charges, I cancelled the tickets on the RailOne app, and booked it on IRCTC to get nearby seats.”

Another issue was that the tickets couldn’t be shared. “Another issue is that RailOne passengers have to create a new User ID. Where is the need for it when both apps are from Railways?” said Vishakh Kochiyil, a travel agent.

When contacted, a senior official in Southern Railway said, “We’re working on the app to resolve the issues. Currently Rail Connect and UTS are functional which would only later be moved into RailOne."
