Chennai: One more suspect from film producer group held for selling drugs

On Monday, Police had arrested an absconding accused, Amar (30) on his arrival from Singapore.

CHENNAI: One more accused was arrested for being part of the film co-producer coterie, which was involved in drug peddling in the city. The arrested person was identified as Ganesan (30) of Padi. Police said that Ganesan used to be employed with the first accused, Dhyaneshwaran (26) who was arrested in November 2025.

On Monday, Police had arrested an absconding accused, Amar (30) on his arrival from Singapore.

The anti narcotics intelligence unit of the city police had received a tip-off about movement of narcotics near Park Road in Tirumangalam police station limits. After vigil, a team apprehended Dhyaneshwaran (26) of Padi, and seized 4 LSD stamps from him.

Based on information from Dhyaneshwaran, the next day, police arrested Sharath (30), Mohammed Masthan Sarfudeen (44), and Srinivsan, and seized 10 grams OG ganja and Rs 27.91 lakh cash from them. Sarfudeen had co-produced a Tamil film.

Subsequently, a police team arrested a small-time film distributor, Dinesh Raj (39) of Nungambakkam on December 6.
