Chennai: Nine suspects held with meth, cocaine

CHENNAI: In three separate incidents, the Anti-Narcotics Intelligence Unit (ANIU) of the city police arrested nine persons for possession of cocaine, methamphetamine and other drugs.

In Ashok Nagar, ANIU team, along with the Ashok Nagar Police, kept vigil at 6th Avenue on Sunday when they found five persons acting suspiciously and apprehended them.

During inspection, cops found cocaine and meth hidden in their possession. Police arrested M Selvaraj (26), N Faisal Noor (30), K Gajendran (32), K Vignesh (25), and J Irfan (26) and seized 46.7g cocaine, 6.88g meth and five mobile phones from them.

In Nandambakkam police limits, ANIU and Nandambakkam Police monitored a vacant lot near the Manapakkam bridge on Sunday. Based on a tip off, they rounded up a car that was parked for a long time raising suspicion. The occupants in the car, while questioned, gave evasive replies after which the police searched the car and found 11 gram of meth. They arrested three men – S Prashanth (24), S Sanjay (20), and T Yogesh (23).

In Ice House police limits, police arrested B Anoop (25) on Monday in connection with a previous drug bust and recovered 5 grams of meth and 28 LSD stamps from them. He’s suspected to be a key interstate distributor with links to Kerala, police said. Previously, I Arputharaj (28), G Shanmuganathan (28), Y Andro Pinjoy (29), and A Alex Praveen (44), who were found with 12 gram meth and 4 mobile phones, had been arrested.

All the arrested persons were produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
