Chennai Metro Rail's WhatsApp ticketing service hit by tech glitch

CMRL said that passengers can also avail tickets at the counter also till further information and regrets for the inconvenience caused.

CHENNAI: The WhatsApp online ticketing services of the Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) were unavailable for several hours due to a technical issue since Friday morning.

The WhatsApp chatbot, which was non-functional all day, was set right around 10 pm on Friday. Passengers were requested to buy tickets through other modes like the CMRL mobile app, PayTM, PhonePe, Singara Chennai Card, and CMRL travel cards which are functioning normally.

CMRL also urged passengers to avail tickets at the counter and regretted the inconvenience caused this had caused. When contacted, an official attached to the CMRL had said that the glitch was being rectified.
