Chennai: Fire destroys auto parts stored on building terrace

Fire and rescue personnel rushed to the spot soon after the incident and battled the blaze for nearly an hour before dousing it

CHENNAI: A fire that broke out on the terrace of a commercial complex behind the LIC building on Anna Salai on Thursday afternoon destroyed automobile spare parts stored there. No injuries were reported.

The incident occurred at the KR Complex on Thiru Vi Ka Road (General Patters Road). The two storey building houses about 25 shops selling automobile spare parts.

The terrace was rented by a dealer who stocked bumpers and other four-wheeler accessories.

The fire started around 3 pm, and after receiving alerts, firefighters from Egmore, Triplicane, Esplanade, Mylapore, Teynampet, and Kilpauk rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control after an hour.

Police and fire officials are investigating the source of the fire.
