Chennai: Man arrested for Rs 4 cr land fraud

The city police registered a case based on a complaint from one Padmanaban (50), son of a retired government employee.

CHENNAI: A 46-year-old man was arrested by the Land Fraud Investigation Wing (LFIW) of the city police for allegedly usurping land worth Rs 4 crore in Pazhavanthangal by impersonation and forgery.

The city police registered a case based on a complaint from one Padmanaban (50), son of a retired government employee.

According to the complainant, his father had brought a 2,992 sq ft plot in Pazhavanthangal in 1976.

The complainant learnt that miscreants had impersonated his father, forged documents, and executed a sale deed with another person.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) initiated investigations and arrested a man, R Harikrishnan (46) of Alandur, who was working as a staff at a document typing centre in Nanganallur. The accused was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
