Chennai: Gold surges by Rs 800 on April 25, 2026; check how much it costs

CHENNAI: CHENNAI: After a fall of Rs 480 per sovereign (8 grams) on April 24, gold has increased by Rs 800 per sovereign on April 25.

The yellow metal is now priced at Rs 1,13,600 per sovereign and Rs 14,200 per gram in the city.

On April 24, gold was priced at Rs 1,12,800 per sovereign and Rs 14,100 per gram.

Silver prices increase

Silver prices increased by Rs 5 to sell for Rs 270 per gram (Rs 2,70,000 per kg) on April 25. On April 24, it was priced at Rs 265 per gram.

Gold rate today vs gold rate on this day, last year

Gold remains significantly higher compared to last year. Prices have surged from Rs 72,040 per sovereign (Rs 9,005 per gram) on April 25, 2025, to Rs 1,13,600 per sovereign (Rs 14,200 per gram) on April 25, 2026, marking an increase of Rs 41,560 or about 57.67%.
