Chennai gold price rises by Rs 800, silver remains unchanged on April 4, 2026

CHENNAI: Gold prices increased in the city on Saturday (April 4) by Rs 800 per sovereign (8 grams).

The yellow metal is now priced at Rs 1,11,600 per sovereign and Rs 13,950 per gram, after a rise of Rs 100.

On April 3, gold was priced at Rs 1,10,800 per sovereign and Rs 13,850 per gram.

Silver prices remain stable

Silver prices remain unchanged and continue to be sold at Rs 255 per gram (Rs 2,55,000 per kg) on April 4.

Gold rate today vs same day last year

Gold continues to remain significantly higher compared to last year. Prices have risen from Rs 67,200 per sovereign (Rs 8,400 per gram) on April 4, 2025, to Rs 1,11,600 per sovereign (Rs 13,950 per gram) on April 4, 2026, marking an increase of Rs 44,400 or about 66.07%.
