Chennai gold price plunges by Rs 1,120, silver costs Rs 255 per gram on April 6, 2026

CHENNAI: Gold rate plunged in the city on Monday (April 6) by Rs 1,120 per sovereign (8 grams).

The yellow metal is now priced at Rs 1,10,480 per sovereign and Rs 13,810 per gram, after a decrease of Rs 140.

On April 4, gold cost Rs 1,11,600 per sovereign and 13,950 per gram.

Silver prices remain stable

Silver prices remain unchanged and continue to be sold at Rs 255 per gram (Rs 2,55,000 per kg) on April 6.

Gold remains significantly higher compared to last year. Prices have surged from Rs 66,280 per sovereign (Rs 8,285 per gram) on April 6, 2025, to Rs 1,10,480 per sovereign (Rs 13,810  per gram) on April 6, 2026, marking an increase of Rs 44,200 or about 66.686%.
