Chennai: Couple bitten by canine in Choolaimedu as dog attack incidents rise in city

The dog, being raised by a person named Mallika, bit Neela's leg, and when Suresh tried to shoo the dog away, it bit his leg as well.

CHENNAI: The city is witnessing a spate of dog bite accidents over the past few days with the latest incident being reported from Choolaimedu.

According to the police, a 40-year-old woman, and her husband, residents of Sarbuddin Street, were returning home after they went shopping in Choolaimedu, when the incident happened. As they were walking, a stray dog that was being cared for by a local resident allegedly bit the woman on her leg. When her husband tried to help the woman, the dog bit him also on his leg. The duo was rushed to a government hospital.

The couple received first-aid treatment at KMC Hospital and returned home. A complaint has been filed at the Choolaimedu Police Station regarding the incident.

The Choolaimedu police said that based on a complaint, a CSR was registered. However, both parties later arrived at a compromise. The dog was then handed over to the Blue Cross, the police said.
