Chennai Corporation seals Kumaran Silks for not enforcing physical distancing

A popular textile showroom in the city was on Tuesday sealed for violating COVID-19 safety protocols.

The Greater Chennai Corporation sealed Kumaran Silks at the shopping hub of T Nagar after a video surfaced of customers overcrowding and not adhering to COVID-19 protocols.

According to a statement from the city's civic body, the shop was locked and sealed since it was found functioning without following the norms and allowing overcrowding . 

A tweet by Chennai Corporation said that shops which don’t follow the protocols shall be sealed and requested shop owners and public to strictly follow safety protocols.

With festive season around the corner, more and more shops are finding it difficult to control large crowds.
