Chennai Corporation offices to be disinfected every month

All the offices of the Greater Chennai Corporation will be disinfected two days every month to prevent COVID-19 spread.

According to a circular issued by G Prakash, Chennai Corporation Commissioner, the civic body offices would be closed on second Saturdays to carry out disinfecting activities in a full-fledged manner on the second Saturday and Sunday.

 The circular has been sent to regional offices, departments and 15 zonal offices. There are more than 1,200 Chennai Corporations offices in the city. The circular is based on a government order issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management department, which directed all the government offices in the State to perform a comprehensive cleaning and disinfecting once in a month. The civic body will follow the guidelines issued by the central government.

Meanwhile, Ambattur zone also had breached 1,000 cases, as on Sunday, the zone had 1,058 COVID-19 cases. Of the total positive cases in the zone, 434 are active and 9 patients died. Recently, the total number of cases in Tiruvottiyur and Valasaravakkam zones had crossed 1,000.

 On the other hand, Royapuram zone breached 5,000 cases (5,056) and Tondiarpet approaching 4,000 cases (3,928). Teynampet 3,652 had cases and Kodambakkam had 3,267) cases.
