Chennai Corporation: E-tenders invited for managing hazardous domestic waste

Domestic hazardous waste management tender worth Rs 6.47 crore floated

CHENNAI: The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) calls e-tenders for the collection, transportation, storage, processing and disposal of domestic hazardous waste generated across the city for a one year period, at an estimated cost of Rs 6.47 crore.

The contractor will be responsible in handling of hazardous domestic waste such as empty pesticide and chemical containers, glass bottles, sanitary plastic waste, toxic residues, CFL and tube lights, expired medicines, cosmetic waste, broken mercury thermometers, used batteries, syringes and needles, and contaminated measuring instruments.

The contractor will be responsible for collecting hazardous household waste from designated storage points, transporting it using TNPCB-approved vehicles, and ensuring safe storage, processing and final disposal as per pollution control norms.
