Chennai Corpn schools secure 85.80 per cent pass

The higher secondary schools maintained by the Greater Chennai Corporation registered an 85.80 per cent pass in the Class 12 board examinations, which is around 5 per cent lesser than the previous year.

Of the 4,648 students who took the examination, 3,988 cleared it. Like the previous years, girls outshone boys by a huge margin of 13 per cent. Of the total 2,973 girls appeared, 2,682 passed, which is 90.21 per cent. Of 1,675 boys, only 1,306 cleared the exam, which is only 77.97 per cent. During 2018-2019 academic year, the Corporation schools registered a pass of 90.41 per cent by crossing the 90 per cent mark for the first time. In 2017-2018, civic body schools registered 88.74 per cent pass.
