Chennai cops arrest Thoothukudi man for meth peddling

CHENNAI: City police have arrested Raghu (29) from Thoothukudi, an absconding suspect part of the meth peddling gang busted by Arumbakkam police last year, increasing the arrest count in the case to 13.

Police seized 27.7 grams of methamphetamine and Rs 75,000 cash from Raghu. The first arrest in the case was made in July last year, when police arrested two suspects.

In subsequent weeks, several accused were arrested, including a medical doctor working in a private insurance firm for his alleged links with a synthetic drug peddling network. By the end of July, 10 people were arrested in the case.

In continuation of the arrests, in November 2025, police arrested Ganesh (28) of Vadapalani and Dinesh (24) of Koyambedu. Based on the investigations, the police arrested Ragu on Friday. He was brought to the city, produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
