Chennai: Class 12 student jumps to death from 9th floor apartment

Residents alerted the Vanagaram police, who rushed to the scene and recovered the body

CHENNAI: A Class 12 student died after allegedly jumping from the ninth floor of an apartment complex in Vanagaram on Friday.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the boy, a Class 12 student at a private school in Ayapakkam, was studying in his room and after a conversation with his parents, he jumped from the 9th floor of the building.

Police said that the boy did not survive the fall and died on the spot.

Residents alerted the Vanagaram police, who rushed to the scene and recovered the body. The police sent his body to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. Further investigations are under way.
