Chennai airport receives fresh hoax bomb threat, security check intensified

The police are also trying to trace the caller and nab the people who are giving hoax threats to the Chennai airport at regular intervals and strict action will be taken against them.

CHENNAI: Tension prevailed in Chennai airport on Saturday following another hoax bomb threat.

For the past two weeks, the airport has been receiving hoax bomb threats frequently and police are investigating to nab the people behind this.

On Saturday at around 2 pm a call was received at the airport manager's office in which the caller mentioned that bombs had been placed in the airport premises and it would explode soon.

Immediately the airport director and the bomb disposal squad were alerted and the director CV Deepak held an emergency meeting in the airport.

However later it was found that it was a regular hoax call but the officers tightened the security in all the important areas as the hoax calls are repeating.

The airport officials said that hoax calls are also being taken seriously since nobody knows what would happen.

The police have been investigating to nab the people who have been making bomb threats to the Chennai airport for the past few weeks.
