CHENNAI: A 31-year-old man died on the spot after his motorcycle rammed into a metal barricade near Kottivakkam early Monday morning. The deceased has been identified as Karthik Nataraj (31) from Kancheepuram, who was residing in Thiruvalluvar Nagar, Tiruvanmiyur.
Karthik was employed as a car driver at a private company. According to the police, Karthik met with the accident on his way to Tiruvanmiyur on East Coast Road (ECR) from Palavakkam early on Monday.
As he approached Vembuli Amman Temple at Kottivakkam, he reportedly lost control of the motorcycle and hit the metal barricade. Karthik sustained severe head injuries that killed him on the spot.
Alerted by passersby, the Adyar traffic investigation wing personnel (TIW) recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination to a government hospital. The police have registered a case and are investigating whether overspeeding caused the accident.
