Chennai: 2 RGGGH staff among 3 held for stealing guard's phone

Nagalingam (58), the security guard, filed a complaint as his phone had been missing since December 25. The RGGGH police registered a case, began investigations, and found that the phone was stolen by two housekeeping staff at RGGGH -Revathi (39) of Seven Wells and Uma Maheshwari (38) of Tiruvottiyur.

CHENNAI: The Chennai police arrested two housekeeping staffers at RGGGH and a man for stealing the hospital security guard's phone and transferring Rs 2 lakh via UPI transactions.

Nagalingam (58), the security guard, filed a complaint as his phone had been missing since December 25. The RGGGH police registered a case, began investigations, and found that the phone was stolen by two housekeeping staff at RGGGH -Revathi (39) of Seven Wells and Uma Maheshwari (38) of Tiruvottiyur.

Revathi stole the phone and gave it to Uma, who passed it to Dinesh (41), who transferred the money. The duo had stealthily learnt of the phone's passwords.

Police recovered the stolen phone and Rs 18,000 cash from the accused. Police have also frozen Rs 92,000 in the bank account of Dinesh's friend.
