Chennai: 15-yr-old boy swept away by sea at Kasimedu

The search continued until Wednesday evening without success and would resume again on Thursday morning.

CHENNAI: A 15-year-old boy went missing in the sea after he was swept away by strong waves while swimming with his friends in the sea at Kasimedu on Tuesday.

The deceased, identified as Vinoth Kasthuri (15), of Rajarathinam Nagar in Kodungaiyur, is a casual labourer.

On Tuesday, Vinoth went to the Kasimedu harbour area with his friends Sakthivel, Naveenkumar and Samuel.

When they were playing in the water, a large wave hit them.

While Sakthivel, Naveenkumar and Samuel managed to come out safely, Vinoth went missing.

The three boys raised an alarm after which the fishermen searched for the boy.

Fishing Harbour police have registered a case and launched a search operation.
