Two people died after a car rammed into another car near Chengalpattu

Police said in the early morning when the car was speeding on the National Highway near Chengalpattu the taxi driver Chandru noticed the vehicle had a flat tyre and stopped it on the roadside and was replacing the spare tyre.

CHENNAI: Two people died after a car rammed into another car near Chengalpattu on Tuesday.

Iyyavudeen (38) of Aanaimalainallaur in Mayiladuthurai was working in Dubai and came to celebrate Bakrid with his family a few weeks ago.

On Tuesday Iyyavudeen was about to return to Dubai and he was on the way to the Chennai airport in a taxi along with two of his friends from Mayiladuthurai. Police said in the early morning when the car was speeding on the National Highway near Chengalpattu the taxi driver Chandru noticed the vehicle had a flat tyre and stopped it on the roadside and was replacing the spare tyre.

At that time another car which was out of control rammed into Iyyavudeen's car and on impact Iyyavudeen and Chandru who were standing close to the vehicle died on the spot with grievous injuries.

On information, the Chengalpattu Thaluk police visited the spot, retrieved the bodies and sent them for post-mortem to the Chengalpattu GH. The police have registered a case and a search is on to trace the car with the help of CCTV.
