CHENNAI:The Raj Bhavan was once again subjected to a hoax bomb threat via email, prompting a high-alert security response on Friday. Similarly, the Madurai bench of the Madras High Court also received a hoax bomb threat.

The police and security forces at the governor's official residence immediately cordoned off the area to initiate intensive checks. However, following the inspection of the bomb disposal squads and sniffer dogs, the threat was declared a hoax as they did not find any explosive materials on the site.

The Guindy police have registered a formal case and have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the culprits responsible for creating the hoax and spreading panic.

Meanwhile, an email received by the Madras High Court's Madurai bench sent the complex into a tizzy. A thorough search of the premises as per protocol revealed it was a 'hoax'. The email led to the evacuation of the personnel and the public from the Court premises this morning, sources told PTI.

Agencies, including CISF and the police department, conducted intensive searches for more than three hours and declared it to be a 'hoax'.
