Body of newborn girl washes ashore at RA Puram

The body of a newborn girl washed ashore at Adyar river at RA Puram and police have registered a case. Residents of the locality found the body around 7 pm on Monday and alerted RA Puram police.

The body was retrieved and sent to Government Royapettah Hospital for post-mortem. Police said the child might have been dropped in the river a few days ago as the body was bloated. However, the umbilical cord was still intact. Police are gathering info on pregnant women registered at primary health centres to trace the accused.
