The victim, Sathyamurthy of Kakkalur, who works in a private company in Washermenpet, was returning home on a two-wheeler on Saturday evening when on the railway overbridge in Tiruvallur, a maanja thread dangling in the air slit his neck. Sathyamurthy lost balance and fell from his bike while passersby removed the thread from his neck. Since the slit was not deep, Sathyamurthy was conscious and confronted the kite fliers. However, they allegedly verbally abused and shoved him. Tiruvallur Town Police registered a case and detained three persons, identified as K Nagaraj (32) of Manavala Nagar, M Rajarupesh (19) of Manavala Nagar and S Deenadayalan (24) of Periyakuppam. They were booked under murder charges and remanded in judicial custody. Further investigation is on.
