Bike-borne snatchers target pedestrians in city

Three persons, including two women, were relieved of phones and jewels by snatchers on bike in separate incidents in the city.

R Prathima (26) was walking on the road in Ambattur Industrial Estate on Friday when a bike-borne duo snatched her phone near Menambedu and fled the spot. Based on her complaint, the Ambattur police have registered a case.

The Avadi police are searching for suspects who snatched a five-sovereign chain from a woman at Kavarapalayam. R Kanchana (43) of Kavarapalayam was returning home after inviting relatives for her daughter’s wedding. When she was waiting at the Kavarapalayam bus stop around 9 pm, two men on a bike suddenly snatched her phone and fled the spot. In yet another incident, a 56-year-old man lost his mobile phone to bike-borne snatchers in Tirumangalam. The victim, Ravichandran, who works as a manager at a petrol bunk in Tirumangalam, was walking to a hospital on the 13th avenue on Friday when the incident happened.
