The deceased, Rajesh (36) alias ‘Bhujji’ Rajesh of Kovilpadhagai, who drives an autorickshaw for a living, received a phone call on Monday night. He told his wife Soundarya (30) that he was going to meet a friend and stepped out, but did not return.

As his phone remained switched off, Soundarya searched for him throughout the night. Next morning, she came to know that Rajesh’s body was abandoned in the bushes near their house with bruises all over the body.

On information, the Avadi Tank Factory police retrieved his body and sent it for post-mortem examination. A case was registered and two suspects were picked up on Tuesday evening. Further investigation is on to ascertain the motive for the murder. Police said that Rajesh, who has three daughters, has theft cases against him and suspect that he could have been murdered over previous enmity.
