Mallikha (30) of Maduma Nagar, Perambur, became friends with the accused, Prabakaran of the same area, a few months ago. Over a period, Prabakaran started behaving differently and proposed to marry Mallikha, who has disability in the legs.

However, Mallikha rejected the proposal and Prabakaran verbally abused her after that.

Meanwhile, on February 17, Mallikha’s differently-abled friendly two-wheeler, which was parked in front of the house, suddenly caught fire. While the vehicle was partially damaged in fire, Mallikha lodged a complaint at the Sembium police station raising suspicion on Prabakaran.

The police, who combed the CCTV footage, found three men setting the vehicle ablaze. Mallikha identified two of them as Prabakaran and his friend Suresh. The CCTV footage which leaked on Tuesday showed three men pouring petrol on the bike and lighting it. A hunt has been launched for the absconding trio, including Prabakaran.
