Asked to get haircut, teen commits suicide

A 16-year-boy committed suicide at Valasaravakkam allegedly after his mother asked him to get a haircut.

The deceased Srinivasan, a Class 12 student, is said to have grown his hair for more than three months. He allegedly sported different hairstyles every day, but his mother often scolding him and said he could come home only if he got a haircut, the police said. Srinivasan, who did not budge, quarrelled with his mother and hanged self when he was alone at home on Sunday morning. The Valasaravakkam police retrieved his body and sent it to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
