Anti-CAA protest suspended at Washermenpet

With a view to prevent outbreak of Coronavirus, the Federation of Tamil Nadu Islamic and Political Organisation, on announced temporary suspension of all the protests against Citizenship Amendment Act, National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens (NRC).

Federation President Moulana P A Kajamoinudeen Bakavi, in a statement here, said the decision to suspended the protests in view of the COVID threat and the Union Government declaring it as ‘Notified Disaster’.


The Federation also said that it will intensify the protests if the State Government tried to implement the NPR.


“We will mobilize public and seek the help of political organizations to launch a civil disobedience movement,” he said.


Meanwhile, the 31-day long Shaheen Bagh-style sit in protests at Old Washermenpet area by a large number of Muslims entered the 31st day on Monday. They said their protests would continue and a decision to suspend the protests in line the Federation’s appeal would be taken after holding talks.
