CHENNAI: In a significant development in connection with the triple murder of the Bihar migrant worker, his wife and toddler, authorities, after the post-mortem on Saturday, ruled out sexual assault on the 20-year-old woman, whose body was recovered from Perungudi dumpyard a day ago.

In a significant development in connection with the triple murder of the Bihar migrant worker, his wife and toddler, authorities, after the post-mortem on Saturday, ruled out sexual assault on the 20-year-old woman, whose body was recovered from Perungudi dumpyard a day ago.

The triple murder came to light after police rounded up suspects for questioning in connection with the murder of MunithaKumari's husband, Gourav Kumar, whose body was found stuffed in a sack, abandoned by the roadside on Indira Nagar 1st avenue, in Adyar, on January 26.

The police recovered a paper containing a list of phone numbers from Gourav's body and learnt that he had come to the city earlier this month in the hopes of securing a job as a security guard. He had earlier worked as a security guard at a private firm in Sriperumbudur for two years.

His acquaintance had introduced him to the accused, Satyender (30) alias Santhosh Kumar, who promised to get him a job as a security guard. Satyender, who worked as a day watchman at the Institute of Chemical Technology in Taramani, accommodated Gourav's family in an unused room on the fourth floor of the institute.

On the night of January 24, the victim and Satyender were joined for a drinking session by Lalit Yadav (40), who works as a night watchman at the institute and Bikash Kumar (24), who works as a security guard at an apartment complex in Kotturpuram.

The police said that after a scuffle during the drinking session, the migrant worker, his wife and the child were beaten to death and their bodies were disposed of at various places. On Wednesday, the police recovered the child's body from the Buckingham Canal near Kasturba Nagar MRTS railway station and began searching for the woman's body in the Perungudi dumpyard as the accused told police that they dumped her body in a garbage bin near a bakery in Taramani. After three days of searching, Munithakumari's body was recovered on Friday and sent for autopsy.

"We will be ensuring speedy justice in the case. Despite the pressure and questions from various quarters, our personnel went about their job diligently and found the bodies of the child and the woman," said a senior police officer.
