The police recovered a suicide note written in English, by noted TV and film actor S Sai Prashanth (30), which indicated the actor was in a troubled state of mind. The actor is survived by his second wife Sujitha and daughter Rakshitha, from his first marriage.
The letter which was being circulated on social media contains a few bitter and expletive-laden references to his wife. In the note, Prashanth admitted to have hit his wife four times due to ‘possessiveness.’
However, he said nobody was responsible for his decision to end his life. The letter also talks about some family issues in Prashanth’s life, with him referring to his wife’s paternal uncle, asking him to apologise to his father for rebuking him.
In his letter, Prashanth has asked her to let go of her anger, ‘at least after his death’ and has promised her that she would be given Rs 5 lakh by his parents and 33 sovereigns of gold that belonged to her.
He also thanked Radhika Sarathkumar, Radaan Media and a private television network, under whose banner he had acted. The actor’s hinting at a possible marital discord in the suicide note has fuelled speculations in the film industry as to main reasons behind his extreme step.
Prashanth had committed suicide by consuming poison, mixed with liquor at his residence at Ganga Nagar, Valsarawakkam on Saturday night. A well-known personality in both Tamil TV serials and films, he has about 10 movies to his credit as a character artiste. He got married for a second time about three months ago to Sujitha, after divorcing his first wife Niranjana.
Sujitha had left for her house a few days ago, and had called Sai Prashanth on his mobile. When her calls went unanswered several times, she called the house owner, living on the ground floor, to check on her husband on the first floor.
When the actor did not respond to the calling bell, the owner peeped in through the window to find Sai Prashanth lying on the floor. He sensed something amiss and informed the police. A police team arrived at the house and broke open the door and shifted the actor’s body to Kilpauk Medical College.
