CHENNAI: Ruban Mandela (32) of Bihar, an AC mechanic of a private firm, was killed in a drunken brawl near Vandalur on Sunday. Four days ago, Ruban and his friend Samuel, along with their other friends, consumed liquor. Police said that Ruban took a beer bottle and was drinking alone. After finishing a full bottle, Ruban told his friends that he’d like to join them, but Samuel refused to let him. At night, when Samuel was going back home, Ruban intercepted him, and an argument ensued. That’s when Samuel took a huge stone and hit Ruban on his head, who died on the spot. Later, Samuel surrendered at the Thazhambur police station. Cops have retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem to the Chengalpattu GH. Further inquiry is on.
