Over 50 judges from various industries such as TAFE, Mahindra, RNTBCI, Simpson, evaluated the students.
The contests consisted of technical presentation and static inspection, noise and steering tests, weight test and tractors’ brakes. The students of Government College of Technology, Coimbatore. Bagged the overall performance with a cash prize of Rs 1,50,000. The second and third winners were presented with Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 cash prize.
The event was inaugurated by guest of honour, senior Vice President, R&D, TAFE, S Sriraman who spoke on enhancing the famers’ tools with innovations from student tractor teams. The chief guest for the event was Vice President, Operations, Simpsons & Co Ltd N Rengarajan.
Director, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, SRMIST, C Muthamizhchelvan gave the presidential address saying that new pathways are found in making students ‘Industry Ready’. He added that there would be a TAFE-SRM Centre of Excellence soon at SRM.
